The Greenland Exploration & Mining Convention 2020 (GEM 2020) is postponed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the prospect of continued global travel restrictions.
The GEM 2020 was planned for 26-29 August in Qaqortoq, South Greenland. The Convention aims to showcase South Greenland’s mineral potential in a global perspective, and increase public engagement with the mineral resources sector in Greenland. The preliminary agenda for the GEM 2020 includes presentations from exploration companies operating in the area, researchers presenting South Greenland’s mineral potential, information on small-scale mining opportunities for the public, and other public engagement activities. The event is financed and co-organised by the Ministry of Mineral Resources and the Kujalleq Municipality.
The organisers expect to hold the Convention at a later date with an attractive program for international and local stakeholders, including the public in South Greenland.
