Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment (SEIA)

If you need documents not listed below please contact the Environmental Agency for Mineral Resource Activities:

Eastern Baffin Bay

A strategic environmental impact assessment of hydrocarbon activities.

This document is a Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment (SEIA) of activities related to exploration, development and exploitation of hydrocarbons in the Baffin Bay off Northwest Greenland between 71° and 78° N. The area was opened for licence applications in 2010 and seven licenses were granted in December 2010.

The western Greenland Sea

A strategic environmental impact assessment of hydrocarbon activities

This document is a Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment (SEIA) of activities related to exploration, development and exploitation of hydrocarbons in the sea off Northeast Greenland between 68° and 81° N; the Greenland Sea assessment area.

Disko West

A strategic environmental impact assessment of hydrocarbon activities.

This document is a Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment (SEIA) of activities related to exploration, development and exploitation of hydrocarbons offshore West Greenland between 67° and 71°N (the Disko West area). The area was opened for licence applications in 2006 and seven licenses were granted by the Bureau of Minerals and Petroleum (BMP), in 2007 and 2008.

The Davis Strait

A preliminary strategic environmental impact assessment of hydrocarbon activities in the eastern Davis Strait.

This document is a preliminary Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment (SEIA) of activities related to exploration, development and exploitation of hydrocarbons in the eastern Davis Strait between 62° and 67° N.

South Greenland

A Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment of hydrocarbon activities in the Greenlandsector of the Labrador Sea and the southeast Davis Strait.

This document is a Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment (SEIA) of activities related to exploration, development and exploitation of hydrocarbons in the Greenland sector of the Labrador Sea and the south-eastern Davis Strait, south of 62° and west of 42° 30’ W.

Jameson Land

A strategic environmental impact assessment of hydrocarbon and mining activities

This report describes briefly the available background knowledge on the environment of Jameson Land. It focuses on the biological environment, and identifies information needs to be addressed by future background studies.

The descriptions and the assessment are restricted to the terrestrial environment, where the activities are expected to take place. The marine environment off Jameson Land is to a large extent included in the strategic environmental impact assessment of hydrocarbon activities in the Greenland Sea (Boertmann & Mosbech 2012).

Disko-Nuussuaq

Disko Island and Nuussuaq Peninsula, West Greenland. A strategic environmental impact assessment of petroleum exploration and exploitation.

This SEIA gives an overview of the environment of the Disko/Nuussuaq area, presents important information gaps in relation to future activities in the areas and gives an assessment and risk evaluation of expected environmental impacts from petroleum exploration and exploitation activities in the three proposed licence blocks.

The assessment area covers the terrestrial parts of Disko and Nuussuaq including the coastal environment, while the waters off the assessment area are treated by a previous SEIA.
