To perform activities under a licence, an ‘Application form for field activities’ must be submitted to the MLSA for approval no later than May 1st of the current year. This application for field activities shall include, but are not limited to, emergency response plan, VHF Radio permit, drilling, blasting and driving in terrain applications.
The Mineral Resources Authority and other authorities may carry out inspections of the licensee’s activities under the licence, if deemed necessary. The licensee shall pay reasonable expenses connected with the transportation of inspection personnel.

Preventive measures against corona virus (COVID-19) - shipping activities
Due to Government of Greenland wanting to limit the spread of COVID-19 by marine traffic, the Mineral Licence and Safety Authority hereby draws attention to the IMO document “Maritime Declaration of Health” for foreign vessels who intends to berth at ports related to mining activities.
The local port authorities in Greenland shall be required to receive an approved “Maritime Declaration of Health”, at EVERY port call at a Greenlandic port if:
- the ship has berthed at a foreign port within the last 14 days
- there has been illness among the ship’s passengers or crew within the past 14 days
- the vessel has made passenger or crew changes within the last 14 days.
